With so much talk and news on the forming “Hurricane Earl” and Tropical Storm “Fiona” you may be wondering if the weather will affect travel plans to St. Croix.
Per the National Weather Service, it looks as though travel plans to St. Croix will be safe. The storm, about 190 miles north/northwest of Puerto Rico should not have too much effect on the Gentle Winds area. The outlook for the island does include some showers and possible thunderstorms.
In St. Croix, Hurricane Season runs from June 1 until November 30 with the peak of season being from August until October. The last major hurricane to hit St. Croix was Hugo in 1989. Regulations have been put in place to protect everyone on the island from Hurricanes and storms. Buildings have to meet building codes, and the island is put under watch whenever a storm may threaten it.
